Drum Lessons

Two ways in: packs you keep, or an hour that is all yours.

Lesson packs

Pre-recorded, watch anytime, yours to keep. Not licks to copy. Conversations on how to approach the instrument: feel, intention, and the choices behind every part. Style-agnostic, made to shift how you think behind the kit. From $29, or every pack in the Bundle for $199.

Get the Lesson Packs

One on one, online

Over video, live. Not a syllabus: we work on what you brought, while you are playing it. Pick a time, pay to lock it, and the calendar invite and video call link arrive automatically. One hour, $100.

If the hour isn’t useful, the next one is on me.

How the hour goes

Set the camera where I can see your hands and feet, and have the song, the part, or the question you are stuck on ready to play. We start there. If a part is not sitting right we take it apart while you play it, and you leave with a way to hear it, not a sheet of exercises. Any timezone, any level past holding a groove, any style.

Who is teaching

Porter Bliquez, a session and live drummer in Los Angeles who also releases music under his own name. Gretsch, Zildjian, Vic Firth, Remo and Protection Racket artist. The lessons come out of that work: what gets a drummer called back is the choices, and the choices are what we talk about. The playing and the records are on the home page.

Which one?

The packs are the thinking, on your own schedule. The hour is your playing, with ears on it live. Plenty of people start with a pack and book the hour when a question gets specific.

Do I need to be at a certain level?

If you can hold a groove and want the part to say more, you are in the right place. The packs and the hour are about intention and feel, not speed or chops, so the style you play does not matter.

What do I need for a live lesson?

A kit or a pad, a phone or laptop with a camera pointed at it, and a way to hear me. Nothing else. Booking runs through the calendar on the home page and holds the slot once you pay.

Do the packs expire?

No. They are files you download from the store and keep. Watch them once or come back to one before a session.

Looking for the drum sounds instead?

The live drum sample packs are real takes off the same kit, with the mic stems split out on Vol. 1.
